Cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce is critical for the biomedical informatics and data science profession, both from a perspective of fairness and equity and to avoid technology that fails to address concerns of significant portions of the population or that introduces unintentional biases and harm. Although studies continue to demonstrate diversity correlates with better performance in organizations, achieving a diverse and inclusive environment should be pursued because it is morally right.
